SmallHD introduces the Focus 7

SmallHD has once again upped the ante in the lower pro video monitor segment with the introduction of the Focus 7. As it’s name suggests, it’s mainly targeted at focus pullers and camera operators. It is currently the company’s most affordable 7 inch monitor at $699, and boasts a 1920×1200 pixel IPS LCD touchscreen display. One of it’s key selling points is the 1000 nits brightness rating, which should provide excellent visibility even in bright daylight.

The monitor offers a full sized HDMI input that can handle footage of up to 4K resolution at 30 fps. Power comes from dual Sony L-type battery cradles at the back which also allow hot swapping. The monitor is equipped with a power out which can provide power for a camera through battery adapter cables. The other two connectors provided are a 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro USB. There is a SD card slot, which allows for firmware updates, LUT importing and still image capture.
