SmallHD has once again upped the ante in the lower pro video monitor segment with the introduction of the Focus 7. It is currently the company’s most affordable 7 inch monitor at $699, and boasts a 1920×1200 pixel IPS LCD touchscreen display. One of it’s key selling points is the 1000 nits brightness rating, which should provide excellent visibility even in bright daylight.
The monitor offers a full sized HDMI input that can handle footage of up to 4K resolution at 30 fps. Power comes from dual Sony L-type battery cradles at the back which also allow hot swapping. The monitor is equipped with a power out which can provide power for a camera through battery adapter cables. The other two connectors provided are a 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro USB. There is a SD card slot, which allows for firmware updates, LUT importing and still image capture.
